RECT: Real-Time Experimental Cosplay Theatre

WHAT IS RECT?

Your cosplay deserves more than a photo. RECT is the live cosplay theatre stage at Visual Arts Expo, where teams bring original skits to life in front of a real crowd, in real time.

Rehearsed duo, full ensemble, comedy bit or dramatic showdown: if you can cosplay it, you can PERFORM it. Grab your team, write your act and take the stage.

HOW IT WORKS

1. Apply: fill in the RECT entry form with your team, your act and your performance links.
2. Review: our programs team looks through every entry.
3. Selection: accepted teams get a slot. Waitlisted teams can still be offered a slot if one opens up.
4. Scheduling: accepted teams are placed in the running order on one of the event days.
5. Show day: collect your access tags, head backstage and perform.

WHAT TO PREPARE

Have these ready before you start the form, so it only takes a few minutes:

• Team name, act title and the names of everyone performing (up to 10)
• How long your performance runs (15 minutes max)
• A link to your music or audio track
• A link to a video of your act, rehearsal or concept
• Links to photos of your costumes
• Prop notes: anything involving weapon replicas or liquids must be declared (fire and smoke effects are not allowed)
• Any stage or tech requests, and your preferred event day
