WHAT IS SPOTLIGHT SEMINIT COSPLAY?

Your cosplay deserves a runway! Spotlight Seminit Cosplay is the VAX cosplay catwalk: take the stage, strike your best pose and shine in front of a hyped crowd and a wall of photographers.

No craftsmanship judging, no skit scoring. Just you, your fit and the SPOTLIGHT. Whether it's your first cosplay or your fiftieth, this one's for you.

EVENT DETAILS

  • Date: Saturday, 31 October 2026
  • Venue: Taylor's University Lakeside Campus, Subang Jaya, Selangor
  • Registration: 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM
  • Stage standby: 3:30 PM
  • Cosplay runway: 4:00 PM (subject to stage schedule availability)

HOW IT WORKS

  1. Register: fill in the registration form with your stage name, character and a reference image.
  2. Confirm: look out for a confirmation email within 7 working days (check your spam folder too!).
  3. Video (optional): email your background video or skit to [email protected] by Monday, 26 October 2026.
  4. Check in: on show day, check in at the counter at least two (2) hours before the runway starts and collect your number tag.
  5. Walk: head to stage standby at 3:30 PM, then own the runway.

WHAT TO PREPARE

Have these ready before you start the form, so it only takes a few minutes:

  • Your preferred stage name (cosplayer or group name)
  • A contact email and phone number
  • Your character's origin series (anime, comic or game)
  • Your character name(s)
  • A reference image of the character you're cosplaying

RULES & REGULATIONS

You may cosplay at VAX without joining the runway, but these rules still apply to every cosplayer at the event.

Eligibility & Registration

  • Registration is only required if you want to walk the runway.
  • Characters must be official characters from comics, anime or games. Original characters and fan versions are not allowed.
  • Open to Malaysians aged 13 and above only.
  • Registration is FREE. All you need to do is fill in the form.
  • Slots are capped at 32 individuals or groups, on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • A confirmation email will be sent within 7 working days once your application is processed.
  • On-site registration is subject to available slots.
  • Participants must check in at the counter at least two (2) hours before the runway starts to confirm their registration and collect their number tags.
  • Participants must follow the instructions of the organisers and cooperate fully to keep the runway running smoothly.
  • All decisions made by the organisers are final.

Costume & Props

  • Do not show up partially clothed or nude. Anyone who does so may be denied access to the event. Contact the organisers if you're unsure about how revealing your costume is.
  • Metal weapons and dangerous props of any kind are strictly prohibited on stage and in the venue.
  • No live weapons or prop firearms are allowed, loaded or otherwise.
  • No open flames, smoke or fog effects, cooking equipment, smoking or vaping.
  • No dangerous substances, including (but not limited to) volatile, explosive, toxic, radioactive, reactive, corrosive or easily flammable chemicals.
  • All props must be handled safely. Do not perform with or attempt to use your props in crowded areas.
  • Costumes, accessories and props that are socially sensitive, not allowed by the Malaysian government or considered controversial in Malaysia (e.g. race, religion, royalty, sex and sexuality) are not permitted.
  • Owners are fully responsible for their replicas and props and anything done with them. The organisers are not responsible for any incident caused by individual carelessness.
  • Props handled irresponsibly or deemed dangerous by security will be confiscated and only returned after the event. Ignorance is no excuse.

Etiquette

  • No obscenities, foul language or rude hand signs.
  • Poses with extreme physical contact that suggest sexual behaviour, including extreme fanservice and fetish-related poses, are strictly not allowed.
  • Changing rooms and washrooms are shared. Please don't hog them, and keep them clean: do NOT leave behind make-up, wig parts, accessories or props.
  • Don't vandalise the space you're given. Any damage caused by a participant is that participant's sole responsibility.

Photography & Media

  • Photographers must ask for permission before taking a cosplayer's photo. Cosplayers have the right to refuse any request.
  • Stalking cosplayers or taking unethical shots is not allowed.
  • Photo-shooting in washrooms or changing rooms is strictly not allowed.
  • If a photographer insists on taking your picture without permission, politely decline or ask any event crew nearby for help.
  • The organisers may film or photograph cosplayers at their discretion. By entering the event, cosplayers agree to the organisers using their likeness or image in any current or future advertisement, promotion or product.

General Disclaimers

  • Cosplay at your own risk. The organisers are not responsible for any loss or damage that happens outside the event area.
  • The organisers reserve the right to withdraw participation from anyone found breaking these rules & regulations.
  • The organisers reserve the right to edit and amend these rules & regulations at their discretion without prior notice.
  • By entering the event, cosplayers confirm they have read, understood and agree to follow these rules & regulations, and are liable for any action taken if they do not.
